Have you ever had hand eczema or what is also known as dermatitis? Many people suffer from it as it canbe caused by genetics and in some cases allergies and sensitivities to elements. There’s also truth in saying that exposing your skin to various harmful elements and chemicals can result to your having hand eczema. The skin is not supposed to be exposed to a harmful chemicals most often and so it often reacts by becoming dry and sensitive and soon rashes, blemishes, and even bleeding follows.

So the question stands: how do you treat hand eczema? The first thing you have to ask is whether you are protecting the skin on your hands the right way. Is it exposed to chemicals every so often? Some of these products can be styling products and cleaning solutions. Getting your hands constantly wet can cause skin dryness which means that when you wash your hands often you may be causing your hand eczema. If you are constantly exposed to chemicals and solutions you definitely need hand gloves. If this is not possible, you can apply thick lotion or cream as it not only gives your hands the moisture it needs; it also serves as a good protective cover on your skin against the harmful chemicals. By reapplying this cream or thick lotion all throughout the day, you can get away from hand eczema.

Dust and dirt can aggravate this type of eczema. Many of those who work in the construction and manufacturing environment can be exposed to it constantly.

Since dirt and dust are microscopic they are easily caught in the skin pores and hair follicles that can cause constant irritation. This in turn causes skin to dry as the dust and dirt can take away the natural skin moisture. Without these oils, there goes a greater risk for hand eczema. It’s quite common for those who work in dusty and dirty environment to experience dermatitis especially when they don’t wear gloves.

Moisturizers and lotions and creams are good for treating eczema for as long as they are particularly meant for that. The usual lotions and creams that you can buy at the pharmacy may not be meant for eczema and may cause further skin irritation and may have ingredients that  may worsen it. When you have eczema your skin breaks and that’s when the harmful elements from the lotion and cream enters the skin pores and make it worse. This may also bring about itching, redness, skin blotching, and even peeling. Washing your hands regularly may be able to help for as long as you make it a point to replenish the lost moisture. Without the replenishment, hand washing may even cause it to worsen.

Worse cases of hand eczema should be consulted with a doctor. He or she can prescribe you the most appropriate skin care creams and lotions that will go a long way off and solve your hand eczema absolutely.
